All recent performances recent have gone well! There are some nice pictures of the Berio Duos in particular, so I'll try and get those for another post.
Last night I was involved in NEC's big fundraiser, A Feast of Music. (http://necmusic.edu/give-nec/events/feast-music-2012/food-wine-menu) It was a beautiful evening, and hugely successful by all accounts. I'm proud and humbled to say the NEC team raised enough money to cover 45 scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year.
What I'd like to say in this post is a big, heartfelt thank you to any and all who support music and music students. You may be a fellow music student who enjoys attending your friends' recitals or even making of evening of an orchestra concert; you may be a casual concert-goer who enjoys a night out and some pretty melodies; you may be a die-hard classical music fan with a subscription to every orchestra and chamber music series in town, like my grandfather was; you may be a generous donor like the people I met last night; you may even prefer to buy your favorite song on iTunes and listen from your own comfortable couch. Classical music, and musicians like me, need every single one of you, and I mean it when I say I am so incredibly grateful for all that you do. You keep me motivated, you keep me inspired, and you keep me excited about sharing all of the wonderful things I discover in music every time I pick up my instrument.
I feel lucky every day to be where I am: surrounded by so many world-class musicians and presented with opportunities to do what I love. I could not be here without the support of countless donors and supporters, and for that, I thank you.
If I may ask one more favor?
Next time you go to a concert, bring a friend. There's nothing like a full hall to make a musician happy.
Welcome to my blog!
