Time flies when you're having fun or working hard- I'm doing both!
On the agenda for this week: Yoko Kida and I will be playing two Kreisler pieces this Thursday evening as part of Miriam Fried's annual studio project. The evening will be a birthday celebration for Kreisler and Heifetz, who were born on the same day! Hope you can come. It'll be 8pm in Williams Hall, NEC, Boston.
I'm doing a lot of reading this days about Paganini. Some of you may have noticed on my schedule that I'm performing the 24 Caprices later this year (May 4th in Boston, May 26th in Philly). To prepare, I'm doing a lot of lot of background work! I don't want to give too much away, but I'm having a lot of fun assembling the program. Some of my recent reading is available online. Paul Metzner's "Crescendo of the Virtuoso" was an interesting read; check it out! Chapter 4 is on Paganini. Turns out Paganini was a single father! Who knew?
Welcome to robynbollingerviolin.com, and thanks for visiting! I look forward to sharing some of my thoughts and experiences with you through this blog.
There are so many people who've helped make this site what it is, including: Lyle Davidson, Susan Reed, Sandra Kimball, Simon Darby, David Kim, Soovin Kim, Zachary Boeding, Diamanda Dramm, Nathan Raderman, and of course my mom, Gerry Rice. Thank you all.
It's the first week of school; practice rooms are packed, and classes are full! I was so sure our first day back would be cancelled due to snow, but I guess I should have known better.
Back to work! Brahms, Paganini, and Kreisler.
Welcome to my blog!
